What is the Future Circular Collider Study?

The Future Circular Collider Study (FCC), hosted by CERN, is an international collaboration of more than 150 universities, research institutes and industrial partners from all over the world. It is developing designs for a higher performance particle collider to extend the research currently being conducted at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), once the latter reaches the end of its lifespan.

What is LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU)?

The LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project at CERN aims at delivering high brightness beams required by the LHC in the high-luminosity LHC (HLLHC) era. The project comprises a new H⁻ Linac (Linac4) as well as a massive upgrade of the PS Booster, PS and SPS synchrotrons.

What is the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider?

The High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) is an upgrade of the LHC which aims to achieve instantaneous luminosities a factor of five larger than the LHC nominal value, thereby enabling the experiments to enlarge their data sample by one order of magnitude compared with the LHC baseline programme.

The high performance field Sensors Acquisition and Motion Control system (SAMbuCa) is an in-house, flexible and modular low-level control solution for mechatronic devices that builds up on the long operational experience acquired on the LHC Collimators Low Level Control System. In the frame of the complete renovation of the LHC collimators control system foreseen for LS3, it represents an alternative to the “off-the-shelf” solution based on National Instrument PXIe cards.
